Can you spare an hour in Ealing to help Books for London between now and Tuesday?

Hi everyone!

Can you spare an hour or two in Ealing to help us out between now and Tuesday?

Next week is moving week! We’ve been storing about 12,000 or so books at the top of the OPEN Ealing community centre since last November, but it’s now time for them to go, as they won’t all fit into OPEN’s new premises when the move this summer.

We’ve arranged with Read International for their partner, Better World Books to take these away for us this Monday and Tuesday. They will then be sold on, with the money going to Read International, to support their great work in bringing education and literacy to Africa.

Unfortunately, moving these books requires a lot of work, and we need help! We need volunteers to:

  • Help attach tracking stickers to 550 boxes of books at OPEN Ealing this weekend – without these, the books could get lost, and Read International will lose out. Saturday and Sunday, 3-6 pm
  • Help us to load these onto Better World Books’ truck  – Monday and Tuesday, 3-6pm (this will be from OPEN’s ground floor, rather than the 6th floor like last time!)

This will all be happening at OPEN Ealing, 113 Uxbridge Road, Ealing W5 5TL
(5-7 min walk from Ealing Broadway station or West Ealing station)

This is a very big job, and we need loads of help to make it a small one! If you can help, please email us at londonbookswap@gmail.com, Tweet us at @BooksforLondon or text/call Chris on 07851602884.

Thanks – your help means so much to us!
